Community of Practice (CoP)

A Community of Practice (CoP) is an interactive and member-driven network of people who come together to learn and support individual and group goals. The Local2030 Islands Network and partner organizations are developing the Resilient & Clean Energy Systems CoP, the Resilient Water Systems CoP, the Data for Climate Resilience CoP, and the Sustainable & Regenerative Tourism CoP to enable islands to learn from one another with the support of island experts.

Any of the Communities of Practice don’t require their members (practitioners) to be the official members/partners of the Local2030 Islands Network. They are open and welcome any participants who can be the representatives of their island economies, experts in relevant fields and organizations focused on island community development and resilience.

Resilient and Clean Energy Systems Community of Practice

The Resilient and Clean Energy Community of Practice (CoP) emphasizes the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 and the broader Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development in islands in locally and culturally informed ways with a focus on capacity building to advance equitable and climate resilient energy solutions for islands. The L2030IN welcomes island stakeholders to help develop and participate in this CoP in partnership with the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

Resilient Water Systems Community of Practice

The Resilient Water Systems Community of Practice (CoP) emphasizes the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 in islands in locally and culturally informed ways with a focus on capacity building to support integrated watershed management and holistic water systems management efforts.

The L2030IN welcomes island stakeholders to help develop and participate in this CoP in partnership with technical experts to help achieve locally led progress towards this critical sustainable development goal.

Data For Climate Resilience Community of Practice

The Data for Climate Resilience CoP is focused on supporting islands in using data to drive climate resilience and measure their progress on sustainability and climate goals. The L2030IN welcomes island stakeholders to help develop and participate in this CoP in partnership with Hawaii Local2030 Hub, Esri, and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Sustainable & Regenerative Tourism Community of Practice
