Local2030 Islands Network Opportunities and Engagements

ONGOING OPPORTUNITY: CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS -  MUSIC POLICY RESILIENCE HUB [updated as of July 2024]

Local2030 Islands Network partner, the CENTRE FOR MUSIC ECOSYSTEMS, is calling for participants to register their interest to participate in the next intake.

The Center For Music Ecosystems  has established a Music Policy Resilience Network which advances research, policy and local thought leadership on how music catalyses economic, social and human development. This opportunity was recently discussed in our VIP webinar.

Key points include:

  • The program invites Island communities interested in growing and supporting their music ecosystem to apply for the next intake of this research and development program.

  • Benefits include working with the Center for Music Ecosystems with a dedicated researcher, six masterclasses, pairing with another participating community, guidance on engaging local decision-makers, and inclusion in a newsletter network.

  • The program will run from September 2024 to September 2025 of the following year, culminating in an online conference to share findings.

  • The program involves working with the island representative and their stakeholders in-depth research project tailored to each community's needs. The program focuses on the role and value of music in social, cultural and economic development and local livelihoods.

  • Outputs from project will be a custom designed research project based on your needs (i.e., Credible, evidenced-based, developed with experts, and that identify possible policy supports and actions).

  • The program aims to support and grow local music ecosystems in communities with populations up to 100,000.

  • The program normally costs $5,000 but fees can be waived or reduced for smaller communities that can't afford it.

  • Larger areas or island groups might participate by focusing on specific community or regions within them.

  • The program is flexible and there is a willingness to work with communities to define the scope of research, and how that research can benefit policy, economic and community development.

  • Aiming for 20-25 communities this round, likely mostly Zoom based engagement due to budget constraints - hoping to hear from people in the through mid-August 2024 to get the program started on time. Application form can be found here.

Please forward this invitation to island members who may be interested in supporting their music ecosystems. Islands have been under-resented in their previous intakes!
